An indictment of rampant consumerism? A dire look at the impact we are having on our plant? An homage to nostaligia? A love story?
That’s what Wall-E is about. The award-winning Disney film is presented free on April 1 at 7:00 pm by the First Tuesday Social Justice Films at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Oak Cliff, 3839 W. Kiest Blvd., Dallas. Popcorn and refreshments are provided. Audience discussion follows.
Wall-E and Eve
Wall-E is a robot designed for a specific purpose: to clean up the waste littered Earth. But Wall-E falls in love withe Eve and they go on an outer space adventure that changes their destiny and the destiny of Earth and its inhabitants.
The film is seen as a critique and an examination of the impact humans have on this plant and the risk to our civilization and Earth.
The film was produced by Pixar Animation Studios and directed by Andrew Stanton.
Walt Disney Pictures released WALL-E in the United States and Canada on June 27, 2008. Wall-E was met with critical acclaim, scoring an approval rating of 96% on the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes and winning numerous awards and accolades.
